I Had a Dream

I had a dream on gentle linen: Rose thorns on flesh ‘til blood was drawn. I saw them, all those fragile women Who still resist with souls half gone. To bleed for truth, to keep you honor While those who cut you make you watch. And still you bloom, despite their efforts, You prickle them on every touch. Keep sprouting swords, you tender flower, Put on your armor, thrive and fight, For beauty is a blinding power To those who never walked the Light. When I woke up, the rose was there, Stained skin and all, as if to teach— Those dazzling women grow in gardens That hands of Night will never reach.
